Abs fault

Easy (ish) but ****ing expensive for what you get and it's a hassle to fit. Take care with those M5 stainless Torx screws.

On the advice from Sherlocks, I cross referenced the part numbers on Real OEM to find the 1200r was the same part. Thought a low mileage genuine part would be better than a new spurious part.

Sorry to hijack your thread but you guys sound like you know what you are talking about. I am looking at a 2007 R1200GS Adventure and the ad says that the ABS light is staying on. The question is could this be an easy fix or should I walk away?

If it's priced for a complete replacement ABS unit then may be worthwhile. If not, walk away. It may be a sensor but unless it's confirmed by a GS911 you don't know. One thing you could do is, ride it, if the speedo is dead for a few miles then starts to work that does indicate a rear sensor. Anyhow, not good to be buying a bike with an ABS light on unless the price reflects that.

Sounds like the brushes are stuck in the abs modulator.

Very fixable, and cheaply. Do a search.

MOTOSCOTT has a fix I asked and his reply was simply "not to do like the videos show you" or you will break it!

He did not reveal His method and I have not gone to get the one, I am to do yet

Also do not "hit" it with a hammer........... Just lightly tap it. :D

Yes, now you mention it, he has said previously about "not Hitting" it with a hammer :aidan

Yes, but you don't "hit" it, you tap it.

Also i've had units with the bearing race cracked and other bearing problems on units that have never been touched so maybe he was assuming any damage is caused by "tapping" the module...

I posted a few years ago about taking a damaged bearing to my bearing man and he asked if it was from a remote controlled car... It's the same make and quality that he sells for model cars, 50pence each.
he gave me his best quality bearing, £4.50.

I'll try a search for the thread/post, it had pictures showing the difference ..
