Noise from Left side sounds like a bag of bolts

Having a bit of bother getting the last two bolts free

The wrong tools for the right job :) next Monday I'll have the proper tool then I should be able to split the enging with a bit of luck.

also on top had a bit of bother getting these rubber things off, they just fell apart after a bit of a twist then I had to get me mate to weld a nut on so this nut could get the feckin bolts out

Nice work

Re the Rubber Jobbie's, a sharp (but not brutal) crack downwards on them and then on the outside edge with a small cold chisel, is usually enough to Budge them

Same with the casing bolts "but" those ones may actually need some heat too

They are the main bearing caps and may well have the pink BMW loctite

P.S. Seriously! Spend some Money on some decent tools!

Cheap tools may cost you a big repair later if you round something out!

I'd love to get all the right tools but I have to be select in what I can buy due to finances ,
I'm thinking I will need special bmw tool for getting the seals in properly because when I was messing
about on me other hobby bike K100 with the strip and reassemble of the Oil/water pump I got new seals which I fecked up using a few light taps with a plastic hammer :),
After getting that back together the shaft doesn't spin, but that's another days work after I get the r1150gsa back up and running.
lesson learnt.

Changing that clutch I hope :augie

Cool workshop but did it once belong to an older relative ( just noticing some of the retro 'furry' glamour girl posters there ) :D

Couldn't help noticing that myself.........even the great Bo Derek is there #10

Well managed to get the engine apart
and got to take out all the feckin plastic that was in the bottom of the engine at the filter thingy

I think these look ok but I will have to measure them for wear maybe

That sir, is onehelluvalota plastic! You certainly made the right call to split the casing and do it properly.
+1

Good call.

Oil starvation at a later date a real possibility, and then a lot of head scratching trying to work out why!

Well done for taking the plunge. That motor will be totally sorted once you get it back together.

Then send Santa's list to Motorworks. They are also a mine of information and friendly advice, it's a real ball ache stripping the engine down but looking at the debris you have saved yourself a lot of money and heartache in the long run

Progress so far is...
I tried to pop out the Oil Level viewing glass,
While trying the screw driver I was using smashed to bits and so did most of the OilLevel viewing thingy.
Now tonight with a new screwdriver I will try to get the actual metal ring out of the hole.
On youtube it all looked so easy :),
I wanted to post some Photos but the site photobucket where I normally upload the photos has been hacked or fecked up
and keeps loading crap that crashes my internet explorer.
anybody got a suggestion to a better site for the photos ?

I went to the local BMW shop here in Rotterdam and spent €444 on a bag full of rubber rings , liquid sealant and all the plastic bits , I did forget to order a new clutch but that will be next months worry I suppose,
And another thing is I need to check how the pin that goes into the clutch when I put bike back together should look like,
I was thinking mine looks a bit longer than it should be :)
