Africa Twin farkles list

I meant to add this image to the above post.. better late than never.

Black, silver spokes and spoke ends on a standard bike.

Photos of my own bike with the wheels fitted will follow as soon as they're on. :thumb

Looks good but can't help thinking a huge behemoth off road machine like that needs some eff off big knobblies on...

It isn't an off road machine. As long as I own it.. it will never go off road. And Im not the type to 'pretend' just for the sake of image. For my purposes its my general purpose transport that will also be used for long distance touring. A replacement for my 1100GS - which itself never went 'off road' over the 22 years of ownership. And currently has Pilot 3s on it.

That looks stunning it really does . I’m not a fan of the gold wheels they look a bit naff.

I deliberately went for Black "everything" as an antidote for the gold rims. I don't mind cleaning the bike, but having to constantly be cleaning the rims was just too much like hard work. And I had more than enough of that with the 1100GS. Now they will look just fine from month to month. Road grime. No problem. Chain fling. No problem. A wipe down when I'm feeling keen, ignore them when I'm not.

More little bits of red loveliness added which were Xmas pressies from my kids. :)

A dreary wet day....perfect for tinkering in the garage and finally fitting the K&N filters I bought a while ago. Compared to fitting similar to the KTM1190....easy peasey. :thumb2

What helped justify the cost was getting £1,887 knocked off the price of the bike.. and Im hoping to get something around £400 for the originals + tyres which have only done 1400 miles. As they are 2018 wheels.. they have a little more 'value' than previous years which suffered quite badly from corrosion.

Lordy, 2 grand for a set of rims, but I guess the next time I get a puncture that 2 grand will seem like a dime.

A steering damper !

Why ? and spare me the to dampen the steering malarkey.

Because when I'm doing off-road malarkey, rocks, boulders, mud and ruts fucking wrench the handlebars from left to right violently.... and I'm sick of it.

So a steering damper reduces all that bollocks and allows the suspension to take the hit, without punting you into a ditch, and allowing you to keep a steady and straight line.

Therefore being able to be lighter on the handlebars and keeping better control of the bike.

EDIT: That's an old photo now anyways as I've since added Rox FX Bar Risers and Rugged Roads Fork Wind Protector

Did you notice an improvement with this?

Dunno.... its storm weather here today up to 51 mph winds.

Not gone riding so I've not tested it yet.

I'm grounded today and tomorrow :(

Contrary to the previous reply, I was quite impressed with mine & would buy again.

Just goes to show that where buffeting is concerned what works for One person won’t work for another?

not a jot on mine when I had it. Snakes oil...

Mine makes a difference (ATAS).

Agreed, depends on how tall you are and seating position. At my height, ride along at 70 and simply place your left hand over the fork tunnel and the noise level drops. Easy to prove if it will work for you or not before buying.

Picking up this tomorrow

It’s Rally raids bike that they used to evaluate some parts on. Got a few farkles mainly Touratech Suspension and rally wheels

I have a dct at the moment but couldn’t resist this. I am needless to say quite excited.
