Anyone have a givi tank ring fitted ?

I bought a givi tank bag and BF25 tank ring, on fitting the tank ring it obstructs the petrol cap from opening and sits on the painted surface of the tank, to me this looks shite, the package states BF25 however it maybe the incorrect item in the correctly marked package.

The inner plastic does not look right at all and shite finished at 6 o'clock .

It sits on the painted finished even with the spacers.

Spacers don't really fit unless you hit them home with a hammer !

So do I have the incorrect part ?

Oh and some nice Romanian fella made some brackets, to eliminate the risk of braking the screen support by attaching a sat nav to it (which I have)

Interested in this... how much, where from, pics fitted?

Thats not correct ,that gap should be at the bottom not the side !?

The gap in the plastic ring is to allow for the filler cap hinging back towards you. It should be at the bottom.

it actually locates on the bag mainly, if he fitted the bag now it would be on sideways.

Ding Dong I too had to lightly tap my spacers home with a mallet .

I too thought the same but it's not the case, look at the picture of my bag (xs320) the strap you can see is the front, the locating lugs are on the right side, also the metal inner ring sits on lugs to stop the plastic ring moving, that's the correct position.

I called givi uk and they sent this illustration of the BF25 clearly not the one I have, cutout on the right tho.

Confusing !
Ding i bought the same ring as i have the small givi bag! But that ring only fits the one bag givi do for the africa twin which does slot in on the side. I ended up cutting the ring and drilling some holes to make it fit. Hope that makes sense.

That's a bonkers design on Givi's part.

Wouldn't be happy with that.

Would not be the 1st time Givi have messed up a design, I was the 1st to get Givi pannier rails for a XT660 Tenere back in the day, 5 sets before they fitted and good luck if you ever complain to the witch at Givi UK

good luck if you ever complain to the witch at Givi UK

They really not helpful, they asked for several photos and a description as to the issue, they reply with the quote 'we are only a distribution centre, you should have this item BF25, take the matter up with the seller' Whereas they could have resolved the issue very easily and I even offered to pay again for the correct item but no got to do the same with the seller now, who's adamant there's no issue.

Givi have mounted the ring incorrectly on your tank bag.
The release catch should be on the side......

If you remove the insert on the inside of the bag you will find the latch ring is only secured by 4 screws, so you can turn it by 90 degrees.

HTH

I agree but the image in the bottom pic shows it across the hinge too.Very strange?!

Yet the techgnical drawing clearly shows the slot in a different place

Will that bottom ring slide further anti clockwise or is it fixed in place by the top ring?

Not sure if you're on Facebook but heres a screen shot of the chap on the Africa Twin Accessories page.

Nope, don't do facebook.

Do you have an email address or contact number?

** My only concern is that the Sat Nav mounting point appears to be the very same windscreen bar that has seen the weld seams breaking?

So this reinforcement bar just braces the windscreen section and doesn't actually solve the Sat Nav issue?

How does it stop the weight of the Sat Nav from breaking the windscreen bar weld seams as it's done in the past, especially when off-road over heavy hits and continuous vibration?

I can see how it might brace the windscreen better, but just trying to understand what it actually fixes with regard to strengthening that windscreen bar mounting point and the attached weld seams, while a Sat Nav is attached?

If anything, it might actually transfer MORE shock through to the Sat Nav bar, as the windscreen frame won't flex as much.

These things don't break where that horizontal bar is, they break lower down behind the clocks, due to repetitive movement in the upper part of the screen support, exacerbated by mounting a sat nav to that horizontal bar. That bracket just gives addition rigidity to elevate the movement and hopefully failure at the lower joint. There's a few braces on the market now, Camel ADV do one as well as some private individuals.

Ahh Ok, now that makes sense.

Thanks for the pics and explanation :)
