single cam or TC.. much better or not??

I did valves about 6k miles ago and leant towards looser rather than tight.
I'm probably getting paranoid cos it seems to be using more oil (level checked correctly) lately and seems more mechanically noisy and vibey through seat and pegs.
Do cam chain tensioner stick? As it clatters more on cold starts for a few seconds, like hydraulic valves waiting for oil pressure. BTW bike is always put on centre stand.

The cam chain tensioner was weak on the early models....much like the 1150. For the minimal price and ease of an upgraded replacement with a stronger spring....this is where I would go first. If its your valves....not noises, they either work of they don't...with a bang!

Cheers, is it a revised BMW part or should I be looking at a specialist for supply ?

Motor works will do you a left hand tensioner with an upgraded housing....make sure you get the piston and spring as well. iF the noise doesn’t die down then look at the right hand and replace the spring only. Cost about £45 ish.

But as others say....not the quietest motor but given the age this is a low cost job which is probably worth doing regardless.
