I'm trying to research Fronteras, in particular MKII 370's.

Are there any UK based dealers/individuals/clubs I could tap up for info?

Dave Renham at In Motion is your man - sells all new spares for the marque

Originally he has worked for the UK Importers - Comerfords of Thames Ditton

Man and boy as a Bultaco man, what he doesn't know..............probably isn't worth knowing

This was at Hartland the other week, stopping the wall from falling down; Don't know if It's a Pursang, or a Frontera .

It's probably worth a PM to Bakerman too, I think he knows a thing or two about keeping older Bultacos going.

Good friend has a 370 for sunny days and Sundays - entered the Cambrian on it and needed a few more fuel dumps than most there. He also melted my Tarmac drive when the float valve stuck open  :D

I can ask him on your behalf if you like?

I *think* that's a Pursang or an early Frontera. I'm no expert though (hence trying to find out more about them). Sweet looking bike though :thumb2

This is the sort of thing I'm interested in.....

That would be a great start, thank you, sunny days and Sundays is where I'm coming from too :)

I guess, initially, I'm just looking for a few pointers along the lines of any common issues to be aware of before I start looking at them. I've found a few worth a look see in Spain where they are still realistically priced but it's a long way to go look at a bike I know little about......

Beautiful aren't they :thumb2

The story goes something like this....... Visiting family in Barcelona as a little boy I thought the Bultaco and Montesa bikes were really cool. I was too young to be into bikes but decided I liked them 'cos of their logos. Butaco was my favourite 'cos of the thumbs up logo :D
Then, as I got older and got into bikes I started to get obsessed with Bultacos, bringing back stickers and T-shirts with every visit. But, it was always based on the bike's looks, I knew nothing about them.
Theeeeeen, when I was old enough to ride bikes I carried on the obsessive T-shirt collecting and actually rode a mate of a mate's 370 Frontera around a field....I was smitten.

Since then I've carried on collecting Bultaco memorabilia and always, at the back of my mind, wanted to own one.

Finally, when I was in Barcelona earlier in the year I followed a few leads to some Bultaco guys over there and discovered that Snr Bultó who founded Bultaco came from the village my dad now lives in. The connection with my dad's hometown and where they were built (Barcelona) has always been a big deal to me but then to discover that seems to have sealed it.......I'm not getting any younger and fate has decreed that I should have one :D

A long time ago in a magical quarry formed by excavations of agrigate required by the builders of the M1 close to luton a group of young men spent many a happy hour tearing up and down impossibly steep climbs. Our chosen bikes were Bultaco's Ossa's and one Yam ty175? I preferred my Ossa Mar, but we frequently rode each other's bikes, trials and trial bikes were very popular locally at the time with a good selection of used bikes always available at what I seem to recall as very little money. As often happens word got out about the quarry and our secret way into it, along came the local oikes with their unsilenced bikes and that was the end of it, god I miss that bike, I hope you find yours.

I would plump for an Alpina (like Bakes one, I think) - based on the Sherpa, but with a dual seat and bigger tank - less frenetic than a Frontera

Or get a Sherpa T - coolest IMHO

Later blue 350T's were maybe the best (but although designated 350, were actually 325cc) or a full blown 340 from 1983 which was a 340cc and had a Frontera bottom end to achieve the higher displacement

Ah, hence your comment the other day about being an 'Ossa man' :thumb2

Here's a piccie for you from the Barcelona bike museum....

Yeah......but.............you're being all practical here ;) I'm on a 'mission of the heart' (see my answer to Snelly's post) and only a bright blue MkII 370 Frontera will do :D

Agreed, an Alpina would make a better trail bike (they are a wee bit small for my 6ft though) but that's not what I'm looking for, I just need to scratch that big blue itch :)

Here's a picture for you too (also from the museum).................

If that was Sundon then I’m sorry if I contributed to your fun being stopped.

I could live with losing Sundon, the real problem was that in an effort to continue riding my Ossa I joined a trials club and entered some events which just proved I was never going to be a thorn in Dougie Lampkins side.
