Since moving house a couple of weeks ago, I find I have to a lot more riding on unlit country roads than previously, and although the LED headlight is good, I could still do with more photons. There are two areas where I think the light could be better: catching the cats eyes up ahead, so you can see the road ahead when it's reasonably straight; and giving a bit more light to side to help navigate the bendier bits.
The obvious solution is to add a pair of spots. I think you can bolt them on just under the beak on a GS. But the real question is: which ones? I've read complaints about the BMW ones, that they're not that bright, so I am begining to look around at other possiblities since in my view, the more light the better. So what advice would you have?

Denali ones, light is incredible on them but unfortunately not the cheapest

The Denali ones are good... But, as pointed out, expensive.

I live on the edge of Salisbury Plain and my commute, to 12 hour ambulance shifts at this time of year is in the dark.
I could't justify the cost of the denali ones, so decided to go for these... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Pcs-DC1...05&rk=1&rkt=1&&_trksid=p2045573.c100505.m3226

The brackets to fit them to my GSA upper crash bars cost more than the actual lights - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycl...258765&hash=item2ca524a086:g:ZN4AAOSwbdpWW1lV - But they do what I need perfectly.

The finish on the "chromed" parts wasn't all that, so I spent a further £10 on quality stainless steel fixings.

I run them through a Hex EasyCan and the output is VERY impressive.

Have a look at the Bajadesigns Squadron Pro. I have these on mine on a bracket that goes under the beak. They are unbelievably bright and turn night to day, as good as having led car headlights. A word of warning though you need to have something like a Hex Easycan to control them so you can dim them during the day and for dipped headlight use. I have this set up and so only use the lights at full brightness when I have the bike's lights up on main beam, (ie. When there are no oncoming vehicles).

I bought 18W Cree Led lights for my GSA. Cost £19 for the lights. £5 for wiring and connected them to Hex EzCan device. Way cheaper than BMW's fog light option (although I have those as well).

Heres mine in action. Very bright and great for night riding.

+1 .Have the BMW. The auxiliary lights http://amzn.to/2lkg7ZD The brackets I used http://amzn.to/2lkihZk
Got the original links off TMF. Just check the bracket diameter as bars 2015/2016/2017 are slightly different diameter. Sorry for side view

Do you have to have the auxiliary lights "activated" by BMW or do they work once fitted?

Ones on the lower bar run on Hex ezcam. Simple plug and play. Many threads on that. The hardest bit is running wires tidy. Just needs a bit of patience.

The BMW (upper ones) I tried to fit when got the GS. They didn't work at first and got them sorted at 600-mile service as a favour. Have to say BMW version has failed twice due to rainwater ingress. At the same time, the Amazon Cree on lower bars survived two bricks thrown at them (Calais) and crossing a stream near Treviso.

Put an order in for a set of these @ £82.99 I will see how good they are when they arrive

Cheers for all the tips guys. I've been reading up on the Hex Ezcan and it sounds like the way to go. Just need to choose the lights. Probably will go for a cheaper set to start with. Cos I'm a sucker for buying twice :blast

... now I've read through the reviews of the stuff you can get on Amazon, I've revised my decision. Life's too short to spend time fitting a lamp that turns into a goldfish bowl when it rains. Even the BMWs can be a bit leaky, but least they'll replace them if they do.
Starting to look at Denali, Clearwater or Baja. But good grief they are all heavy on the wallet.

Easily fixed if it happens - see my first post in this thread: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showth...ghts-with-OEM-connector?p=5148336#post5148336
