Cross tube is the one that gets most of the crap and blasts the paint off, I did the RT stand last week, the same has I have done on the last few bikes few bikes I have owned
4 Coates of black hammerite paint then used Spiral Wrap which is a tough polypropylene material to wrap round the cross tube, the polypropylene takes all the crap leaving the paint to stop the metal rusting

Did you take the stand off the bike or paint it in place ?

center stand

the stand takes alot of abuse i think from the spray of the front ,have a gs but still the same problem -painted it and wrapped it in tape -think someone makes a guard like a flat plate

Hammerite every year and a lenght of plastic black pipe for center bar keeps it OK for me ..

Good tip from Warlord, I bought a Lizard Skin from Halfords £7.99 (small) fits a treat and does not look out of place on the bike.

thought for a minute this thread was someones porn star name:bounce1

Centre stand, FFS.

Centre.

Not Amerifuckan center stand.

There is no difference in meaning between center and centre. Center is the preferred spelling in American English, and centre is preferred in varieties of English from outside the U.S.

Some people do make distinctions between the words. For instance, some prefer to treat center as the word for a place or institution and centre as the word for the middle point of something. But while these preferences may be taught in some schools and are perhaps common among careful English speakers in Canada, the U.K., and elsewhere, they are not broadly borne out in 21st-century usage.

But more to the point, this is a bike forum not a grammar forum. Please don't spoil it by getting picky.

Thanks for the tip. Great idea with the spiral wrap. I’ve usually had to paint the central part of my r1100rt centre stand on an annual basis as the bike is used all year round. Hopefully the spiral wrap will provide a lot more protection.
