Remembrance Sunday has, for the past few years, seen me riding west through all sorts of weather, to pay my respects at the Commando Monument memorial at Spean Bridge to those that have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Is this what we call, in other contexts, virtue signalling?

Well done you, puts my short car drive into the town to attend the march and service on the church green into perspective.

Good on you Steve. You passed me head on this morning just before Gorthleck - white 1 series pulled over in a passing place to let you through.

Its a lovely memorial they have up there to those men I had a chance to view it last year, its surprising to think the Commandoes used to train up and down the hills in that remote location in all weathers.

Thanks for making the space yesterday. That bit of the road was fine - it was the slightly higher ground after Whitebridge that was interesting :D

I bet - hats off to you for getting out though!

Here’s a picture I took at the viewpoint shortly before you passed there.

What do you guys think of this C U N T at the Guardian ... Simon Jenkins?

He’s correct, stop wallowing in the past, LEARN and move on - it’s only the old farts who hang onto the past, they young generation really have better things to do - and rightly so.

But would the young generation be in a positon to do these better things if it wasn't for those who went before them and made the ultimate sacrifice.
