All.... can anyone confirm what watt output these are please. No amount of searching seems to give me the answer. Many thanks in advance.

114 views and not one response...:nenau. I guess that's a no then. :tears: oh well.

I've had a thought.

Last time I stripped one down to dry it out there were numbers on the back of the lens. I've got a spare so I will strip it down in the next few days and see if there is anything of relevance - good prompt - thanks.:thumb2

I guess the fuse is 7.5 amp. So less than 90W probably 55W or thereabouts.

The chinese replica's on eBay are all 40W output. They look identical in every respect. Hella make the LED bulbs for BMW but I can't find anything on t'internet about them.

Stripped one down . Thought these were sealed units ?

Depends on the year, the earlier ones had a H3 bulb I think from memory, normally 55watt but I think the Bmw ones were 35watt, the later ones are Led & consume about 20 watts but give a light output about 40 watt equivalent..

If bulb type take bulb out & check..
The Chinese copy ones are generally 20 watts per lamp, & I can vouch for quality, although not fully waterproof they need silicone where the wires enter the lamp..
good luck

Ignore some of that, just noticed it’s in the Wc section :comfort

I’m talking about the LED ones. Not the Halogen.

Yes - you can strip them down. Outer casing comes off and them you can separate the bulb unit from the heat sink. I will need one in front of me to remember exactly how to do it.

The BM LED ones are 12w...Printed on the housing at the back.

:clap:clap :thumb2.... sometimes the answer is right in front of us. Many thanks Rich..... didn't occur to me to have a look at the housing. :blast

Has anyone else noticed that BMW has changed the aux lights on the 2018 models? To quite what, I don't know. Planning to take a closer look at the NEC next week.

These are the new ones

How do they spread the light compared with the old ones?

I suppose we can only hope these ones are actually waterproof!!

So far no problems with my early 2016 GSA, the bike, myself and the lights have done many miles and hours in heavy rain, no problem with OEM lights so far.
