Drying out your Aux LEDS

Thank you Andy

Followed your instructions to the letter and all working again. :okay

One thing I found on the one light which wasn't working: the sealing grommet on the connector wasn't seated correctly. You could see part of the blue sticking up outside of the connector housing.

Cables & connector are now covered in electrolytic grease and I have put some spiral wrap around the cable to assist with future water ingress. Thanks again. :beerjug:

I had some replica lights fitted to my hexhead,

thy didn't have the luxury of the oe power connector, so hard wired and sealed .

Unfortunately the units filled withe water, not a lot, but had water ingress

I managed to get the front cover off just by gently persuasion,

the caulk, seal had failed. I dried everything out and resealed with glazing silicone

No problems from then on in.

My plan for the next failure , was to drill a 1mm hole in the bottom of the unit to allow the unit of drain of water

Hi Andy, thank you for the write-up. I had the same problem, got quotes from BMW for a replacement (fell of my chair when they gave the price), looked at aftermarket alternatives - didn't like any. Then I put my light in my wife's food dehydrator overnight, worked fine after that.
Also added the thermal paste and greased up / taped up connectors.
Thank you again!
And hello from sunny South Africa!
