VPN lowering broadband speeds ?

I have just installed Nord VPN.
I stream off Kodi & wanted to "hide".
The VPN is strangling my upload/download speeds.
Not using any other firewalls.
What's up ?

possibly a band width issue from the provider of your vpn to many users. or the encryption is very complicated,

Perfectly normal for this to happen. You are basically using an isp within an isp. Nord probably has hundreds of servers so try connecting to a different one to see if you get a faster connection. It's also not uncommon for your isp to throttle a vpn connection either.

Just use 'Opera' browser, it has free inbuilt VPN www.opera.com
No speed issue here using Opera

I use NordVPN too, and as has been said, due to routing and encryption, it will be slower. The only advice - other than changing protocol to/from TCP/UDP - is to try different servers. I find manually selecting them the best. I also find that NordVPN is faster on iOS on my phone than it is on desktop. I'd be nervous using just Opera, I'm sure it's under Chinese ownership now and data-slurping. I can recommend Epic Browser for a quick and easy fix.
