One of my pannier lid retaining wires broke the other day so I've been looking to replace it. The first issue why trying to figure out what the bloody thing is called to search for a replacement! I gave up on that so thought I'd buy the individual parts and just make some up - found the stainless steel rope wire and the crimps, though I cannot figure out what the small flat parts on the end of the wire that you use to secure to the body of the pannier and the lid using the screws. Any ideas????

Thanks in advance

Tom

PS - This may not be the right forum, but I couldn't see where else to put it, but given the panniers are on a 1150GSA it's close enough!

Not knowing what the thing looks like, but from your description maybe something like a suitable gauge "Crimp Ring Terminal" would fit the bill?

If the wire was leather it would be a “check strap”.
The easiest way to make the end with its keyhole shaped hole, is probably to file a large dia washer probably M4 and drill a hole for the brake cable wire.
