Does anyone know what the symptoms are for when it’s failing?
Yesterday, mine was going from 1 degree to 7 degrees and back again in as many miles. It’s unlikely (though not impossible) to be actual air temperature changing so much so quickly. So was my sensor acting up. Does anybody know if it’s beginning to crap out?

I can’t imagine it’s easy to stabilise the temp around the sensor on a GS,
If you were in traffic on a still day the heat off the engine would easily affect the reading???
Guess you’ll find out soon enough

It sits under the beak so about as exposed to moving air as possible. Air flow is fine, no signs of corrosion, no traffic jams.
Maybe the air temperature did swing but 6 or 7 degrees on the M5 by Exeter down to 1 degree only a few miles either side is unusual to say the least. Dense traffic and rain meant I couldn’t watch it closely.
As you say, I will know soon enough if it’s the sensor.
