OK folks, 2019 is going to be a big year for me as I'll be 60 I know it's unbelievable as I've managed to keep my boyish good looks but there you go.
Anyway, I have a couple of really great trips in the planning and the one place I really have to go is to South America. Many of you will remember my aborted effort in getting down there last year but thankfully we've managed to find solutions to the issues and had the green light that it's do able.
I'm yet to really get to grips with finer details but I will be shipping the container in and out of Montivideo Uruguay. It will be a 40ft container with room for 10 bikes and you will be able to load everything into the box as per my normal trips to the USA. It's a system which works well.
My initial thoughts would be to unload the container in Montevideo on Friday 11th January 2019 and reload on Monday 11th February 2019 which would give us around 4 weeks for the trip. These dates can easily be moved around if needed so aren't set in stone at the moment. Montivideo is a handy place and is free from the dodgy dealings which scuppered my last effort.
My personal preference for a trip would be to run down through Patagonia to Tierra Del Fuego and back which for me means I've been to the top and bottom of the Americas. If you want to do your own thing down there that's fine and dandy as I realise it's not everyones cup of tea and I'm happy just to ship your bike there and back. From that location, you could get across to Chile or even go up to Peru so the possibilities are limitless.
I've not really planned a route as yet but if I can get enough interest in this, we can start planning in earnest and set up a meeting to discuss what everyone wants and if the container is viable.
PM me if you are interested in this trip or container and if interest is high enough, which I'm sure it will be, we can start planning the trip.
