1990 R100GS 247E not PD Fork yoke lock stops

Seeking suggestions for an easy fix to repair a long broken lock stop. Thought about drilling and tapping the yoke and fitting a socket head cap screw. Yoke looks like aluminium....anyone done that? Currently bonded a chunk of rubber onto frame which looks crap but works. £185 is a bit much for 2nd hand assy from MW particularly as I'm looking to sell the machine.
 
Thanks; 40mm they are. The steerer has a shoulder at top unlike the square headlamped PD, which is plain, I believe.
