We were recently engaged to recommission a G/s for a forum customer,
Fairly straightforward you would think:augie
So carbs off,they need rebuilding,no prob.
Valve covers off for a looksee,hhhmmmmmm.
All the cylinder studs are showing differing numbers of threads,
So more looking beckons:comfort
The valve rockers

I’m not convinced the cylinder heads are correct:confused:
R9+L9.
Plus what looks like factory paint on the heads,hmmmmm
Question now is how far do we pull the thing down,
More measuring and research tomorrow :comfort

You'd want to check the whole thing now, if not for safety/future of the engine, to see what else has been done to the poor thing.
 
I'd say its all a test Mike, the biking equivalent of the Michelin Guide seeing if you are awake.
 
its a 'mystery shopper' insert ..... test to see how good you really are :blast

not at all Mikey ... just seems a bit odd .
Who fits a 42mm into a 38mm hole and (allegedly) gets it to run .. no wonder the piston didn't' like it
 
At least people that do this type of stuff make me think I’m not that bad after all :D

I hope it’s not another one who’s got their fingers burnt.
