The Cheval Rouge in St Menehould, might do you? It’s a family run Logis hotel, plenty of rooms. Park on the street outside. Used it lots of time. They have a brasserie restaurant (I’d reserve a slot if there are eight of you) or try the place that used to be the cinema over the square opposite.
There are eight of you, that might (depending on the sleeping arrangements) limit your choices. For example, if someone recommends hotel XYZ for a night but they have only three rooms and two of your party demand double rooms for single occupancy, with a tip-top restataurant and set in a town (or open countryside) you are stuffed.
Come on, there are eight of you. What are the other seven doing? Can you not, between the lot of you, find a hotel that caters for your needs, if it’s not to be the Coq Hardi?
You’ve decided that Verdun is to be your overnight stop. Why? Use the same thought process to find your group a hotel. Failing that, try the Ibis Budget, Verdun. It’s no.1 in the 10 best hotels in Verdun, according to TripAdvisor. If that’s too downmarket, look down the list a bit but, if it ticks all the boxes, job done.
PS There is also a Formula1 in Verdun. Many bikermates love them as they are - to use the vernacular - well cheap, mate so more money to spend on fuel and piss. Seven out of your party of eight might well fit into that category. Who knows?
PPS You found your - maybe obscure - apartment rental in Honfleur for five of you. Can you use the same process for Verdun?
