I am in the process of planning my 2018 Picos/Pyrenees trip using Tyre To Travel software which came free with my recently purchased TomTom 450, but the issue I have is when planning my routes of numerous Pyrenean Cols I can enter a waypoint towards the summit but when I attempt to enter my next waypoint at the base of the climb it suddenly routes me around the Col instead of up and over.
I’ve tried on numerous occasions but always the same result, for some reason it won’t allow me to route up and over and down the other side.
All my other routes which I’ve planned my trip have worked fine, it’s just the climbs.
I cannot fathom out why it does this apart from the fact that at present the route may be impassable due to winter snow...! :nenau
While I have to admit that this is my first attempt at satnav route planning so my experience with such software is very limited.
If anyone could perhaps shed some light onto my problem it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.

I have never used Tyre to plot routes but I’d guess that it’s possibly due to some sort of route creation preference settings.

For example, is there a ‘seasonal closures’ setting, that might route you around the summit? From memory, Tyre uses Google maps, who do sometimes close off passes in winter.

Here’s a link to route creation, which might be useful to look at, just to be sure that you are making the routes properly:

http://www.tyretotravel.com/manual/#1-settings

And then to:

Failing that, here’s the helpline:

Is there not a forum for Tyre? Tyre uses google maps so could it be summit to do with that? (Pun intended. :D)

Could this be due to road closures due to the time of the year with there being snow at altitude, just a thought.

Road closures, that's exactly what it is. TYRE uses Google maps to plan routes and you'll get the same result on Google maps if you ask for directions.

Best answer is to pay the subscription for www.myrouteapp.com and you'll get a choice of map to use, Google(great detail) / Tom Tom maps(precise waypoint location prior to loading to device) / HERE(Garmin) which does have the seasonal closures ignore facility for winter planning.

This has been developed by the TYRE folk and is simple to use on any PC , Pad , Android phone etc. Also routes are stored on the web and can be accessed anywhere for loading to your TT device.

Hi

I use Tyre without any problem. Just save the route to your TomTom and the actual SAT Nav will ignore the actual route and just uses the way points. Depending on you Sat Nav settings (winding and Attitude) you actual SatNav will take you up and over. The Sat Nav only uses the way point not the route shown in between.

There is also a Tyre help and tyre community if you need extra help.

Which, if the GPS device ignores a route you’ve created on a PC by only taking the waypoints to create its own route between, does beg the question as to why anyone would bother with Tyre and / or its ability to create a route at all?

Surely you’d just pump the waypoints into the TomTom and let it do its thing?
