I have a slight "knocking" noise which appears to come from around the alternator when I first fire the bike up. Give a couple of minutes to warm up, it shuts up and is pretty quiet.
If I take the belt off and fire it up (to eliminate it from the root of the noise) will it do any harm ?
I know it probably sounds a daft question ....
Cheers

My bike does this occasionally, every couple of years I worry about it.

I thinks it's the front timing chain tensioner, it's starts up quiet then after 20 secs knocks for around a 90 secs then disappears.
Perhaps taking time for oil to reach the tensioner.
Pfffft! Now I'm thinking about it again.
