Apparently the restoration of Sir Donald Campbell's Bluebird is coming to an end and it is going to have its first run since that day on Lake Coniston in 1967 and it will be on a loch on Bute in August. Me and a couple of mates fancy going up for that - anybody recommend accommodation on the island?

Thanks:thumb2

You could try the Boathouse on Battery place, its a short walk from there to the town it gets a good reputation and the owners partner, Paul, is a biker.

Slightly further out is the Glenburn, a large old Shearings owned hotel that caters mostly for bus tours,it has recently been refurbished.

There are plenty of small hotels and guesthouse around the front of the town, there is also the Backpackers Hostel which is more budget friendly, the owner Sandy is a biker also and a bit of a character.

I was born on the Island and lived there until I was 50 so if you need any more info just ask,I was down there on monday visiting my parents...it was quiet.
