How critical is this?

I have about 30 shims but cannot get the gap listed in the manual on a couple of them.
They are completely free to move, tested with push rods out and there is a tiny wiggle room.
Should I be concerned and buy some more shims? Or is it good enough?

What size shim do you need?
The small clearance is suggesting just that.
Free to move with no binding, minimum float.
As long as there is no tight spots all good.excessive float will just make more valve gear noise, and in the long term wear the rocker pads,as the float will continually move them across the valve stem ,due to the angle of the push rod

Thanks for that :beerjug: I'll leave it as is for the moment.
It helps when I use the correct feeler:blast
I cant fire it up yet as I'm waiting for new headers.

I have found with running tight clearances, that rockers can bind towards the end of their travel. So ok at TDC but tighter as they move to open the valve. I don't know why that may be, but I have seen it.

You need to check them with the pushrods out to tell.
