I had a bit of play at the bottom bearing of my Rear Ohlins, and just pulled it off to take a closer look. That bearing/bush looks shot to me. Spoke to ABE in Greenwich, but he wasn't as confidence inspiring as you might hope.

So is this simply a matter of sending it off to Ohlins for a service, or is this a separate job, and can I do it myself?

Thanks all

Hi Mark,
No clips holding bearing in - just press out using suitable sockets etc and a vice.
Your bearing looks like it has a LOT of play:eek:

You can buy the correct bearing from here:-

http://www.splatshop.co.uk/ohlins-rear-shocker-bearing-large.html

You will also need new felt seals (2) - also from Splat:-

http://www.splatshop.co.uk/ohlins-larger-rear-shock-bearing-seal.html

You will have to carefully tap out the two spacers fitted to each side of the bearing (remove AFTER bearing has been removed from shock) - and re-use them - so be careful!

Grease up the bearing, felt seal etc before fitting spacers - as rose bearing can't be twisted after assembly.

Looking at your shock's condition it's maybe time for a full overhaul anyway? - I've been very impressed with work done by FTR on my Ohlins in the past:- http://ftrsuspension.co.uk/
