Arrow Shorty for 1290SA

If you want noise plus a well made can have a look at a Racefit titanium one. A friend of mine fitted one to his bike and it was nothing short of being obnoxiously loud but the SAS has baffles before the can so it might not make your ears bleed if you start it before putting your crash helmet on.

I keep thinking about getting one for my GT but I ride in Germany too frequently and the plod there would cream their pants in anticipation of impounding the bike and fining me a few hundred Euros.

Doesn't have to be an Arrow necessarily, but they look nice (ie small and black), seem to be decent quality, not to loud.

Ha, Nutty kept that quiet! He always said they were shit and that only Akra's were worth having :D

John ~ Cookie, Giles and I all have Wings 'shorty's ~ very good quality and, IMHO, the best looking silencer out there for the big Orange bikes. They are a fair bit smaller/less bulky than the other makes. They come with a carbon fibre heat shield and two baffles, one is quiet, one is loud but not overly so and with no baffle in ......... :eek:

Yep, another vote for the shorty. Transferred it over to the 1290, it must be 4 years old now, and with a bit of Auto sol it comes up like new ... :thumb2

In which case, where do I buy a Wings exhaust?

Google knows nothing, their website has no option to buy and they don't seem to respond to emails.:nenau

I remember trying to buy a can off them too. I had the same issue. I had no reply at all though. After a couple of attempts I gave up.

Some people do seem to have this problem, while others get replies quickly. I wonder if strange fails from Slovenia are getting marked as spam? Perhaps he's just busy/useless? He's been on the ball the two times I've bought from him and even offered a discount as a previous customer the second time :)

ps. Wings come in black now too.

I took it personally.

I then saved money by just buying a decat pipe. This gave the required noise increase quite nicely. I shortly after realised I wasn't 22 years old any more and that I found it quite intrusive and mildly irritating. This was laced with a tinge of guilt over my anti social behaviour so I put it back to standard.

I did get a response in the end. Sent an email with an order and asked for bank details - another several days gone by with no response.

Nothing in my spam - first thing I checked.
 
I was out on mine for the longest run yet (about 4 hours) and the Wings shorty with the smaller dB killer is just about right. Loud when you give it the beans and inoffensive when required.

Bike was showing 49 mpg as well (1190).

I use the larger insert. I'm not sure it's much, if any louder than the smaller one, but it is more pleasing to my ear.

When I've heard others riding with the same setup, I've always been surprised how quiet it sounds, cos it sounds fabulous when I'm on the bike.
