Has anyone ever made their own heat controller for the Gerbing gear?

I need one and think the £40 is a bit expensive. By my calculations a jacket, trouser liners and gloves should max out at 147 watts or 12.25 amps. Something around 15 amps should do or get a controller that can handle more and put a 15 amp fuse in line.

I know, I know, I should just pony up the £40 but wheres the fun in that?

Divide the £40 by the number of years that you intend to use it, gives £x/ year. You will recoup part of the outlay when you sell it. I need my gloves at a different heat setting to the jacket, so i have a twin controller.

The Gerbing one is waterproof. Those on eBay don’t look like they are.
