Morocco 2018 The Report.

We stop for fuel and coffee at Boumia.
I’ve still got no front brake (just so you know).

The Cedar Forest is always a great day, except for last year when I ran over a baby goat (goat gate ...) :tears

and the perfect way to end a great day - :thumb

We get to Boumia around 1:30pm, we are still making good time we leave the busy little town and continue to head South towards Tounfite, the Oued is flowing fast they must have had a lot of rain, last year it was bone dry. We stop take a few pics and off we go again towards Cirque de Jaafare.

I enjoyed the Cirque de Jaafare route apart from the last 2 or 3 miles, they’ve started to grade the road surface and it’s very boring. We get to our hotel just outside Midelt, The Hotel Kasbah Midelt, we’ve stayed there before and it’s very popular with bikers, no Chinese this year. My room was massive with a sofa and what looks like it was once a fire place. I think it was 550DM each including dinner and breakfast, that’s about £44.00, beers were nice and at about 30.00DM each that’s £2.40 per bottle.

Day 4. Today we are riding from Midelt to Erg Chebbi via Beni Tagite. We are all up early, we have a nice breakfast of bread, jam, honey and of course boiled eggs and bad coffee. we are ready for the off and on the bikes by 8:30, first stop for fuel and water, we hit the road at 9am. Today is a long day, with quite a bit of road riding (turned out a lot of road riding).
We ride the N13 South East for about 50 miles where we then turn on to the R708, this takes us through a small town, we are still riding on tarmac (albeit in poor condition in places). We stay on the R708 for 30 miles then we finally come off the road onto a track that heads to Beni Tagite. I've ridden this route for three years now and the track and the terrain seem to change every time, this year some of the river bed climbs just weren't there or if they were there they weren't difficult at all, previous years they were difficult climbs (or am I finally getting better - No need to answer that! :D)

Come on Mark, i'm saving this until when you finish the RR ....

So the plan was simple, don’t stay in Beni Tagite but blat through, and onward into the desert. Making a point NOT to let Paul D stop anywhere in the town for a shit (now that’s a story from 2014).
We get out of Beni Shithole without incident, however as you come out the town after about a mile there is a forty foot stretch of road completely missing and someone had removed the indicator stone, we were never going to fall down it as it was so big, but made me thankful we weren’t riding in the dark !! We head up into the hills and pick our way over mountain top, no major falls this year and we stop for a long earned rest.

Pics from 2017, Paul R had a big fall off and snapped his clutch lever, he swapped it with the brake and carried on. You can see Paul D working his way down on the big Africa Twin.
