Peli / Pelican Case Topbox

Anyone using a Pelican 1450 or similar as a topbox? Looking for something to take a chain/lock, tools, tyre plugger and maybe rain gear so don't want a massive topbox.

Seems the 1450 is about the right size and weight (2.5kgs). Previously I used a 1600 over the pillion seat and rear rack on an 1150 and it did the job.

Any photos would be appreciated. Will be bolting it to a GSA rack on a GS.

You must be psychic, I was thinking about the very same thing just the other day. I've got a GSA and when I go out for the day I like to take a few things with me but not enough to justify putting on the side cases which are very heavy and i don't have a top box, so i will watch this space with interest. :thumby::thumby:
 
Another option is the Explorer 3317, smaller footprint than some of the Peli's but a little taller. Can be picked up for around £40 used on ebay.

Have you fitted it yet? or do you know a how you are going to fix it to the bike.
 
I did a 13000 mile tour of the USA/Canada/Alaska using Pelican 1550's as panniers being held to the racks with U-bolts. They were rock solid.
 
So bought four of these in my local builders suppliers for €1 each. I only used the half without the vertical nut sticking up.

- tyre plugger kit
- compressor
- tool roll and tools
- chain & lock
- rain gear
- dry bag
- tie down straps
- first aid kit
