Hello and can I have some help please

Got my 1100gs out this morning to go for a ride .........got 500 yds up the road and tried to change into 4th and nothing

1st 2nd and 3rd were fine but a brick wall on 4th

Now it struggles to change up or down ...searching the forums I am hoping that it will be the gear lever pivot bush but the problem does seem quite drastic for such a small fix and it has worked perfectly in the 18k miles I have done on it

However I have ridden it all winter and I suppose a bit of corrosion is inevitable .....is there anything else I can check without removing the box ?

Thanks Chris

Chris Im sure the little twin lads would love to help, but your question might be better placed in the 1100 section

Get all the gear lever mechanism lubed up with marine grease

Cleaning and lubricating the gear linkage can make an enormous difference to the gear change - the symptoms you describe could easily be down to dirt in the linkage.

Strip the mechanism down - beware of the springclip...

...(Part no 6 in the diagram), as it's easy to overlook - and even easier to lose.

Once it's apart, clean it all up and lightly regrease before reassembly. Part 4 is a plastic bush, IIRC.
