Hello I have a problem with CN granting a refund, has anyone got back a reasonable service/amount from them?

I renewed my insurance a month before it was up, so the cooling off period was well up before I had an accident with a Stihl.

I didn't contact CN immediately, which it probably states to do somewhere in the policies, not knowing how bad it would be concerning getting back together.

Recovery is slower than anticipated and I can't ride for another few month.

Tried to get a refund and 1rst agent didn't mention anything in the conversation that my request is a normal cancellation of the policy.
Was promised a callback from customer service people, which came late in the afternoon when I was out.

Called the show again, now the 2nd guy got fresh, your know the drill and insisted my problem is a normal cancellation, that I had to contact them immediately, that it's my fault and I could not ask for refund which is appropriate to my issue.
After a bit arguing about it was told that I would get back about 45€.

I said that this is not the way to treat a customer of ca. 11 years, no claims or anything.
More of the same blaming from his side, asked why they treated me this way etc., tempers up, call by him to Mgr. & replied someone will get back to me again in 48h.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers Josey

Nothing specific i can suggest. All my contacts in CN became redundant after i left MAG Irl. and since CN was sold off by Carole herself, it's lost its good reputation entirely.
All i can say is
With CN - Start off* nice - it gives you somewhere to go. ;)

No joy?
IF you've a case the Insurance Ombudsman can work with, contact them, give all details and stand back and wait.
They're normally very good. :thumb2

* if that dont work - don't hold back - make lots of noise - on social media especially.
FWIW,
CN have a U.K. based faecbook page. You can get a lot of...
... mileage :augie from 'voicing your concerns' there and insewerance companies generally dont want this kind of publicity.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

I suspended my policy with nash some years back for about 70days. Cover letter and insurance cert posted back to them for the the duration. I was away in Asia.
Come renewal the following year, got a €105 refund and the full year's ncb

I'm a little lost on this one - you might not be able to ride for a short while but wouldn't it be prudent to continue ins. cover on the bike?
Do you not have to SORN if not insured?

Sounds like a royal PIA to me

Are you looking for a restrospective refund because you took a while to ask them for it?

:nenau:nenau

Thank you for the replies.
I would have been happy with a holiday/break, some kind of postponement of the cover for 4-6 month. Not necessary a cash refund wanted.
Nice my botty? Asked after a while why they were treating me like an outcast (other term used though); 'are your calling me names etc'.
Cheers Josey

Back in the day you could 'lay up' most insurance and get a partial pro rata rebate. I suspect that option is long gone.

Don't you want to retain fire and theft cover though ( just suspending road risks)?

I would send a very calm complaint letter and see what they say. U might be surprised (but don't hold your breath) and they will (or should) point out your right to refer to the insurance ombudsman (or whichever ombudsman it is nowadays as there may no longer be a specialist insurance one).

Much will depend on what your policy and schedule stated at the kick off and you may find you agreed to admin fees which might cancel out any rebate anyway. V difficult to successfully stick it to the insuranceman as they hold most of the cards.

Good luck.
