A very brief ride report and my thoughts on trips on the Hypermotard

Left home with 4 mates last Saturday heading for Barnard Castle to meet with the 5th member of the trip.

I have manged to fit a Ventura luggage system which took a fair bit of modification to get it to fit around the Termignoni but it does and it works very well.

Arrived in BC and had coffee and then headed up to Jedburgh via Blanchland Stanhope and Hexham, Basically over the moors on the smaller roads. The only noteworthy event was when Kevin managed to clip a sheep i had startled in to activity. No damage done to his GS although Oswald didnt look too happy ( he, the sheep, was called Oswald)

Brief stop for fuel and coffee and then up to the Edinburgh Bypass via the A7, Over the new bridge to Junction 4 at Knockhill then Glen Eagles, Crieff to our destination at Dunkeld.

Sunday saw us searching for breakfast somewhere but this being Scotland next to nothing open early but we found somewhere selling bacon rolls and coffee in Blairgowrie which was on our route. The first disaster struck when Andy managed to snap his rear right indicator off his GS. They seem very brittle and very fragile with no flex in them unlike the old ones. Hand signals from him for the rest of the day.

Over the spittle of Glenshee and Tomintoul and some other great roads that i cant remember the names of. Larked around a bit and back to the lodge on the same roads.

Some of the roads up there are in very poor condition which i thought unusual as previous trips there have indicated better roads surfaces than here.

On Monday we stayed fairly local just messing about on a loop over Glen Qiche, Ben Lawyers with the obligatory Scone at the Old Post Office. The Ben Lawyers road had only been open a few days since the recent bad weather apparently.

Talking of weather

It was decidedly chilly for the whole trip but we managed somehow to dodge the obviously very heavy showers.

Oh and discovery of the day I went with Andy to Dundee via Blairgowrie so he could get a new indicator from the dealer. I expected a shit ride into a biggish town on crap roads but the road was very good and i enjoyed the suprise of that ( I told Andy that i was miserable but couldn't see him go on his todd)

Tuesday looked a good day weather wise for a run over to Oban

Now, the Hypermotard might not be the best bike on motorways and big A roads but put it on the A816 from Oban to Lochgilphead and it becomes the best bike in the world ever. Chuck it in to a corner and it just sticks, twist the throttle hard on the way out and it just launches itself pawing the air with the front wheel and made me look like a riding God.....

I have more fun and smiles on this bike at relatively low speeds ( sub 100) than any other bike i have ever owned and that road made the long trip worth every bit ...

Tuesday Also saw Andy depart for work comitments so he missed that bit ....

Wednesday was a repeat of Sunday as thet was where the weather was best ......

Now the bit that Nofuck hamster will enjoy...

I left home with loads of life left in my tyres but the abrisive nature of the Porridge wog roads destroyed the rear and it was by wednesday night looking decidedly second hand.

A call to Strathearn tyres and low and behold they had in stock some Roadtec 01 but cocould not fit them untill Thursday. We were heading home on Thursday but agreed to be there at 0800 for them to fit them.

Crieff is 30 minutes away and on route so at 0715 i loaded up the bike and went to wheel it backwards out of its parking spot. It wouldnt move ..
Bastard bloody buggery arseholes...... A puncture

Small piece of glass because the rubber was now so thin and bald. Any way got it plugged and inflated and limped over to Crieff and by 0830 had new rubber and were on our way.

Incidentally the pair of Roadtec 01 were way cheaper there than i can get them here, Fitted on ride in basis balanced etc for £255 the pair ! and a great job they did so well recomended. so much so its might be worth it next time riding up on knackered tyres and having a new pair on our way through !

So no mechanical failures or breakdowns on the Ducati

Bloody brilliant it is

Love those bikes but they just are too high for me to climb on to.

Great photo and thanks for posting

I have no recollection of you seeking permission to visit God's country. However, seeing as you had a good time, I'll let you off, only this once though.

They are very good for tyres, and friendly too.

Didn’t know wether to post this in this thread or the trying to look miserable thread, this was on the way up.
