Hi all

Has anyone got any experience with making a custom packing foam insert for panniers in order to make them like a peli-case / flight case?

MTIA if you can offer any advice or tips.

I've looked at various options to create a camera case using my top box. Look at pick n' pluck foam, or alternatively high density foam layers and cutting each using a template to get the desired shape.
Let me know if you have any joy, still not done it myself.

You can get foam which is precut in squares so you just pull off the ones you need to for the shape of what you’re packing

Here’s an example, I bought this cheap aluminum box from a tool supplier with the foam included

Otherwise if you get normal foam, trace the shape you need and use an electric carving knife to cut it neatly

That's the Pick n Pluck stuff. Really good, though it can be expensive to get the depth required for a top box.
