Best of luck finding one.

The ultimate model, as far as I'm concerned. Very pricey for a pristine one.

Your original post says 996r

I would think the 996R would be more desirable......it was the first "R" designation. Probably less of them about, so maybe a better investment.

If for whatever reason you decide not to go ahead with purchase. Hope you do. Please PM me details.

All sorted, thanks to those on here who have helped me find my path, I’m now a Ducatista.

I won’t actually be taking possession for a few weeks, so here is a Facebook clip of my 996R having just been serviced by the wonderful Ray Petty at Ray Petty Mechanica.
(apologies but I cant seem to embed it)

Thought that it was about time I posted some of my own pics. Thank you to everyone who offered advice, the model is not exactly what I had in mind when I set out only search but it won me over it’s a real cracker.

She sounds Bloomin thunderous in the flesh, God I love it

In esteemed company with the amazing Death Machines of London “Air Force” Guzzi and Ray Petty’s own very cool JAP

Stunning Bike, Always loved the look of the 999...Hope to see you out on it one day:beerjug:

Not envious one little bit.....:likeit

Had the 748R that a previous owner had paid John Hacket to throw every performance mod you could get and it was an absolute diamond on the track. Sold it as even though it out handled pretty much everything else around it at the time there's just no substitute for BHP and thumping torque and always lusted after the 996/998.
I know the connoisseur's will say the 916 is the most iconic for collectors/investment but yours is the one I would still salivate over the most.

Never, ever, ever sell it :nono but make sure you keep riding it as keeping it as a garage queen would be doing it such a disservice.

Enjoy it :thumb2.......did I mention I'm not envious at all  utterly gorgeous looking bike :drool
