Removing HT leads R1100GS

The Highlands of Scotland.
Just doing some bits and pieces on my long suffering bike - have new HT leads which look like they should just pull out from the coil, but the old ones are stuck fast. Before I do something regrettable, should I just pull harder or am I missing summat?

I’m happy to be proved wrong but I’m fairly sure they just pull out, or should!
