That's an interesting find alright. I think he should just leave it as it is, it's his creation now, sure he might get a nice premium if he put it back to original and auctioned it with a major auction house with the penthouse mag article associated with it. I guess he'd have to decide wether his memories are worth more than money.

I’d feel happier running around on a cheaper one. I expect that would be worth quite a bit. (£30,000 + ???) . The story is all part of its history I too would keep as is .

Proff had one of the first ones. It was the bike used by the journalists for the first road tests and featured in many of the mags in the early/mid 70's. I've no idea what became of the bike.
Perhaps the same bike?
