I know that the BMW chain is useless and stretches really quickly but what makes should I keep away from or go for?
BMW is a no-no and I am presuming DID is probably the best but your thoughts would be appreciated.
Personally, I do at least 10K miles a year so want something that will last.
I believe I need a 525 chain but what length. 116?
Sprockets will also be changed (standard 16 front with 42 rear (10 mm holes for me)).

If choosing DID they do different types of chains but which to go for?
If different make then which type.

If it makes any difference I ride an 800GSA 2016.

TIA.

An X ring will last longer than an O ring chain.

Renolds chain

I've just had a web chat with Renold's and they say no to chain and sprockets.
Does anybody have any part numbers for Renold or a dealer that can get hold of them?

I got my original BMW chain replaced early on under warranty ( ~ 3000 miles) and the new BMW one has been fine. I've hardly adjusted it ( but I've only done 18000 miles in 10 years !)

I just fitted a set from Motoworks - Heavy Duty DID Chain.

The difference after my old, worn one is very noticeable!!

Sales talk but the DID VX is a great long lasting chain.
As someone who's broken an O ring chain on his T12, with the oh f*ck screaming loud, as the back end locked and then pissing hot oil over my left foot.

You learn to understand the differences in manufacturing, and why a quality chain and a kind, friendly, understanding nature helps with the warranty claim.

Triumph had never seen an output shaft bent before.

I spoke with Motorworks who supply DID chains. They also said that BMW use this make so I am guessing that BM use the cheaper version rather than a better quality one.
Think I will go for a DID ZVM as it is more heavy duty.

Chain and sprocket set from Motorworks for £116+P&P with £48 fitted locally.
