After spending a few great days in Vainden I wanted to visit the American cemetery that Bobsnew had told me about.
I'm sure lots of you have been there but I thought it was worth a couple of pics.

Just want to point out that that this is the Henri-Chapelle which is close to the Dutch and German border in the north east corner of Belgium. An amazing place to visit.. The exhibit in the main block/visitor centre on the right as you enter is fascinating. Its a fair way from Luxembourg.. but nonetheless a worthy diversion if you happen to be in the area.

I used to fly into Luxembourg regularly when i was going into Germany on business many years ago,

My colleague who used to cover the same route told me to visit the cemetary when i got time , ( he'd been some years prior)

Sadly i never did, its still on my list of places to see

Nice pics Ric, I shall be visiting here following on from the Chimay racing :thumb

I have amended the title of this thread, correcting the country to Belgium from Luxembourg.

I have also moved it into the battlefield / military section.

The US cemetery sites are particularly impressive. Here’s the one Nutty & I found last year in Thiaucourt-Regniéville...

Very impressive Bounce. Iv not visited that one.
They all stand out in there own way no matter what nationality.

The monument at Chateau Thierry

and the nearby American cemetery of Belleau

and the German graves next to the American cemetery.

The American Cemetery outside Florence italy is also rather impressive, besides the usual engravings of combatants killed in action, the walls are carved with images of the battle route the US Army took from the south of Italy up to the north.
In comparison the CWGC site nearby is rather bland and miniscule in comparison
