Is it too late to join in now? Cheers Mark
Chris.
The first must see event for me will be the Dakota’s dropping parachutists at Sannerville, just east of Caen on the 5th

I'll be watching this on the 7th. But for me the parachute jump will be a little disappointing because it's a free fall team.
It would have been more authentic to see planes full of Paras bailing out at a lower level using military chutes. IMHO.
Still looking forward to it though.
It’s WW2 uniforms and round chutes according to the Daks Over Normandy website
On 5 June 2019 we will follow into the footsteps of the Greatest Generation! About 250 men and women will board the aircraft in the United Kingdom to, exactly like 75 years before, fly across the English Channel and to jump into the historic drop zones of Normandy. They will be wearing WWII style Allied uniforms and will jump military round parachutes. It will be an event which has no equal. History in the making. Again! Just like in 1944.
we`re going to try and find a good vantage point for this, west(ish) of the drop zone with the sun sort of behind us on the 5th, according to the web site about 4.30pm French time (approx.).anybody any ideas?. Also be aware Prez Trump is reportedly making an appearance to the American areas on the 6th and security is said to be very high with some road disruptions.
Gov. Com have been given info for travel restrictions inside the 75th D-day area by the French on the 6th, I haven't read it yet but please be aware, apparently if you are already in a "zone" it's OK but if you wish to travel in or out you will need a "sticker". We're finding a bar and waiting for the fireworks. Have fun.
My ferry arrives at 8.00am in Le Harve on the 6th, then I've got 60 miles to Caen. Should be fun.
I should just about be in time for Daks Over Normandy at Caen Airport on the 7th.
