After the sublime Kings Canyon Road, the Great Western Divide Highway in the southern part of the Sequoia National Forest was even better. Mile after mile of twisty mountain pass

After nearly running out of fuel and having to freewheel downhill 11 miles to the nearest filling station, it was over it Death Valley for the night

The next morning we were on the road before 7am to escape the oppressive heat (it was 45C the evening before)

After skirting round the southern edge of the toilet known as Las Vegas, we drove along the side of Lake Mead before arriving in Zion for a couple of nights

I'm lucky enough to have ridden some great roads in the USA and Kings Canyon is in my opinion the best there is.

The whole area is stunning and well worth a diversion from the usual touristy places.

Some great pics there, keep 'em coming :thumb

The crowds getting into Zion were ridiculous at 8am. It took 45 minutes to get on the shuttle bus, but it was worth the wait

The beer was well earned after a four hour hike up to Observation Point and two hours back

The two pics above the Badwater Basin one look like Zabriskie Point, unless I'm mistaken. Looks like you're visiting all the good bits, Steve.

Did you walk up Angels Landing in Zion ?

Why did you use a shuttle bus ? We just drove in, though started at 7 am.
Nice trip ,though you appear to be composing a Ride Report that involves no riding 🤪

Is that Cable Mountain Lodge in Springdale ?

So where next ? Bryce ? I can also recommend Boulder in Utah then Arches National Park/Moab.

I can also recommend Boulder in Utah....

Good call - then drive The Burr Trail in the car....:D Actually, you could drive the tarred bit until it turns to dirt. Shame to miss the Mokee Dugway as well. Boulder is close to that and Mexican Hat, Monument Valley and Valley of the Gods.

Exactly what we did !

Zion-Bryce-Boulder-Moab-Monument Valley etc.

Burr Trail was amazing and we stayed at Boulder Mountain Lodge which was beautiful.

Didn’t post many pics as we were in a car so it wasn’t a RR 🤣

Best trip on 4 wheels ever.

fantastic please stay there and keep us updated ...love the pics

Some great images thanks.

I was having great difficulty with the Badwater Basin sign until I worked out there was a very faint decimal point on the metres i.e. 85.5 not 855 . For a while I was thinking that US feet must be at least 3 times the size of ours

Fancy doing something like this next year. Looks great

I've done 8 US road trips so far, with my wife, with my son and on my own, in cars, an RV and on bikes. Best holidays we've ever had. I recommend going to Bonneville Salt Flats for Speed Week if you can fit that in.

I agree Chris- Kings Canyon is in the top 3 riding days of my life :thumb

The road out of Zion was also stunning as we headed towards Bryce Canyon

Your Mrs always looks so happy. Can we have some pictures of her shouting at you, or being miserable, just for balance? :D
