Hi,can anyone recommend an independent repair shop in south (east preferably)Wales. That can confirm “brake failure”warning diagnosis and offer abs removal etc?
I’m fed up looking at all the failures of other owners. It’s put me right off ownership.
I planned a continental trip but it now looks doubtful.
Thanks.......

I can recommend Phil at Cardiff Motorrad - 029 2056 5666. Give him a call; helpful chap.

Your 2007 bike should have the non servo abs. This is more reliable and even if it fails, will leave you with 'normal' braking power. So no point spending money removing it before it fails.

Enter your bike details into RealOEM and see what type of servo you have. If yours looks like it came from a car, you dont have a servo.

UKGSer has an easy link but here it is http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do

This http://jaggrays.wixsite.com/longwayx-cross/single-post/2016/1/28/ABSectomy tells you how to remove this

This is the later type. It does not have a servo and is as reliable as any car ABS unit.

I’m pleased to say that Motoscot did a repair on my ABS.It was done while I waited (2-3hrs).They had to replace the motor as it was damaged by a previous bodged repair.
Motoscot seem to know what they’re doing.Nice people.Charge was £380 total including a second hand motor all guaranteed.
This seems a reasonable charge compared to the £2k plus fitting for a new unit.
Time will tell.......

I'd say that is reasonable, given that complete secondhand modules are in that price range and you still have to factor in fitting.
