Not quite new, but first visit for a while

    Greetings all

When last I was here I probably bleetered on about restoring my 1982 R80 G/S. Now though, I'm thinking on selling that as well as my F650 GS and getting a R1100 GS, or maybe a R1150 GS.

Could anyone advise me, in simple terms, which is the best of those two models to go for

I'm aiming to get to the continent and see how far I get before half of me cash runs out It's a kinda bucket list thing, as I'm touching mid-60's

    Anyway, ride safe y'all

    DM

They're both good. Get the best you can, of either, for the money.

IMHO there is very little difference but you will get a better condition 1100 cheaper - if that makes sense.

The money you save will go towards your trip

Personally, I'd go for the 1150, for no other reason than that it has a 6th gear. The 1100 can feel a bit busy on extended high-speed cruising, if that's a factor for you. Other than the extra gear and some slight styling changes to differentiate them, they're pretty much the same bike, and not a step change like between the 1150 -> hexhead 1200, or the hex 1200 ->liquid-cooled.
