Hi folks, bit of advice please. My son has recently bought a second hand Nav V which has just been updated. He tried using it and described to me that he is well "in advance " of the map/display as he rides,ie he is well past a junction before it even shows on his screen. Both he and I have zero tech/computer skills, wondered if it was possibly an incorrect setting or a known issue.Any advice greatfully received. Cheers Neil

Does it have a memory card in it?

Are the maps stored on the card?

Is the card a high or low spec card?

I seem to remember having an issue similar which sped up when I popped in a memory card. I could be wrong - it was a long time Ago.

Is this happening all the time or just the once...? if just the once, was it in a certain place? could be that the satellite link is weak at that point.

Lots of reasons why it could be happening.
Weak satellite signal.
Latency in position-fixing.
Timing error.
Memory card defect.
Read defect in mapping.

Has he got a jammer fitted to his car/bike?

Just so you know, they don't all do that! I'd also guess at a slow memory card - you can check what "class" it is by reading the case. Mine's a Class 10 and is fine, lower numbers mean slower but I expect someone here will be able to tell you exactly what the minimum is.
