Had the latest bike for just over 2 months, 2000W ST1100 Pan European. Got it from Professor Plumb on here, having sold him my GSA, rode the Pan home with the intention of selling it for him, and ended up buying it myself

60,000 miles and as smooth as a sewing machine...Best mirrors on a bike ever, comfy, plenty fast enough, great manners when in slow traffic... not much not to like. It's had stainless exhausts and collector box which is one of the things that generally needs doing :) Panniers actually look like they belong on it too...

And the best thing, it doesn't owe me that much

Excellent bikes and very well balanced. I rode one back to back with my old 1100rt and much preferred the pan . The RT felt very top heavy afterwards and rough. Better riding position for me too putting less weight on your backside. As or more reliable than a Bmw too

I had one as a 'work ' bike from 1996 to 2008.. They really can stand abuse, like leaving with the engine running at the scene of RTA's for sometimes over an hour .. From what I read the 1300 wasn't an improvement

Great bikes, I bought a lovely green one last month, ABS/TCS with only 24k ont clock.
It's my 8th ST1100 - I prefer the ABS version as it has more modern tyre sizes and much better brakes (irrespective of the ABS function).
Fits me perfectly and just feels right from the off.

Looks in fine fettle Bryn - you will have to post a list of your bike history sometime. I thought I had run a few but....

Like my old Pacific Coast PC800, which I sold on a while back, the ST11s did suffer with rear swing arm corrosion - I saw one that looked to be in showroom condition, where the arm seemed clean & perfectly OK, but up on the bench with the wheel out the tech showed me where the arm was starting to rust through. Still, after 12 years on STs you should know their foibles. That reminds me, I have still got loads of PC spares in the loft, which I must move on sometime.

I had a green one from you a few years ago - what a great bike. Let me know when you're bored of this one!

I remember that one Simon, this is my third green one ! Of course they were all keepers........

Ian, try one & you’ll see what the fuss is about and why so many were sold even though they were quite expensive new.

If you want a bike that goes, stops, goes round corners well, is fast, is reliable, is comfy and will do that day after day after day - the ST1100 is the bike for you. I couldn’t think of a better bike for long distances.

In fact I might go back to one for my 150 mile daily commute ...

I've had a good look around it, the swinging arm looks ok, but the plan is to let our old police bike mechanic (retired but still does servicing) give it a good going over once it turns to winter again ....Anything that needs doing can be addressed then ....

I have fond memories of the ST1100's I rode at work, abused all day , out in all weathers , and I needed recovering once in 13 years , and that was for a rear flat
