Hi Guys, just wanna check have anyone or does anyone have done the mod?

mine is the 2014GSA wanting to change it/convert it into the keyless like the later model?

thanks!!

I've not done it.

But thats got to be a major job even if it was possible, new loom, ECU, servos, sensors, keys......

Be easier to just buy a new bike with it already on.

I don't see any retrofit option so you would need to obtain all the correct parts. The ECU would need to be coded properly so you need the right software to do that.

Not worth the hassle in my view.

I though this was going to be about someone unable to remove a security device from a Lambretta! :D

Honestly, mine has it and i wish it hadn't. Its a pain in the arse remembering where i left the key when i leave the bike anywhere and want to remove the sat nav or unlock the top box. I am dubious about it being any more secure when you have the keyed version.

That says more about you than the keyless :blast

I've had it on my last three GSA's and i wouldn't have the bike without it. Even more so now. After discovering my latest steed has an alarm, I've learnt that the alarm wont go off if i move it with the key in range. So no need to disarm the alarm before moving it.
Ref: forgetting where the key is. My Rallye jacket has set contents in set pockets. I always have done since this habit was drummed into me by the army. Keep the key in one pocket. You cant go wrong.:thumb2

Top left pocket then?

I wouldn’t waste your time even thinking about changing to key-less, as the so called benefits (subjective) are not huge.

You will still need a mechanical key to remove your £500.00 sat-nav if leaving your bike parked out of sight and this may just be at a coffee stop.
You will still need a mechanical key to lock your helmet and gloves into your top-box.
You will still need a mechanical key to remove your seat (although this it not a common occurrence).

There may be not be any real security advantages as specialist thieves already have the technology to overcome wireless security systems on cars it won’t be long until they are focussing their attention on expensive bikes.

I suggest you just enjoy riding your ace bike and get a key-less version the next time you swop. :thumb

To go with my keyless bike I’ve modified my topbox lock so I can leave it unlocked while I’m riding. Saves looking for the keys in my pocket. Just as handy in the keyhole. I’m looking for a roboust padlock you know the ones that have numbers rather than a key? Then I’ll be getting nearer to true keyless. With bmw it’s always a bit overstated. Keyless it isn’t really. Like the tyre pressure control. I’ve never figured out how it works. I know how it can tell the pressure and even give a warning about a puncture but I can’t quite master how it controls the pressure. JJH

It’s a Givi topbox which shouldn’t let the key out of the lock unless it’s locked. Now it does. JJH

It doesn't control the pressure in the tyres and only monitors it
