DONT STRIP A WHEEL BEFORE THE WHEEL BUILDER HAS TAKEN THE NECESSARY MEASUREMENTS
The stainless spokes will clean up. But the alloy won’t.
Dave Blurton a wheel builder in Derby told me the BMW spokes are usually scrap because they have to be cut and drifted out. He charges extra for that & is perfectly happy for people to strip and clean the parts for themselves.
The rims sockets where the spoke head sits is a close fit and will get filled with powder coat. Cleaning out the excess coating risks corrosion creeping in.
I’m not sure what the solution is other than having the rim and hub stripped and anodised at a plating company.
