Could do with pointing in the right direction want to re build my bevel box as it feels like the large output shaft bearing is on its way. When i lean in to a corner can feel a little rumble which goes when its back upright.
Any how i digress where can i get the relevent info on tollerances torques etc, my haynes book has no info so please can someone help.

the official service cd has all the relevant info and a step by step guide

Might be your tyres?

Good advice as I remember years ago when I had a 1100Gs on a trip it made the same noise on a lean and it turned out to be the Tourance tyres I had fitted

As an interest What tyres have you fitted, before you start hauling the FD apart??

AS a verification you should drain and check the FD oil It usually has a glitter like effect in it if the chrome has started coming off the balls

Its an 1150! YOU can do it on the bike

(Edit Had details of a rebuild, but then thought better if you check above and come back to us!)

I know that over the years the advice has been to just replace the main crown wheel bearing, and sometimes the inner taper crownwheel bearing,
Over the last couple of years we are seeing more and more with worn pinion needle roller bearings, as the bikes have done more miles.
It’s Worth checking the pinion for play prior to stripping, unfortunately if the pinion bearings need doing it turns it into a more specialised job

+1
I've had this happen twice with Tourances. I was convinced it was the large bearing, until I replaced it and it made absolutely no difference. Always happens after a 600+ mile trip on French motorways, now I just ignore it and it goes away after a while after a few days back on the twisties

I changed the large FD bearing following the information gathered and witnessed on YouTube videos freely available. I left the crown taper bearing and working slowly and in a cramped space completed the job in a day in fact, did it twice as I found a second FD shim under some oily rags which I had to re-insert.

Easy just to follow someone in the know.

As little as 1500 mls use on some tyres ( rear ) can cause this so check your tyres first. Do the usual checks for free play on bevel box and pinion bearings..drain the oil and check for bits..remove/replace the final drive main seal and check the rivets..these can all look good but the damn thing can still fail...probably tyres though.

Mikeyboy if unsure :D

Mine does the same on Mitas E07 Dakar tyre i currently have fitted. Also (though less noticeable) with the Heidenau K60. Didn't notice it with Mitas E08 or Tourances before that.

That said, I cant swear to my bearing being in A1 condition either :D

Yeah Ive noticed mines does that ..new bearing fitted end of last yr ..and new rear tourance fitted a couple of months ago ..seems to do it on worn out tarmac at sub 40mph speeds ..no play what so ever in the rear end so must be the tyres
