Side stand, bike leans too far

Have a 2013 F700GS and am finding the bike leans over too far on the side stand, when on level ground. If there’s a slight slope or it’s got luggage panniers etc it’s alarmingly worse.
I have a camel foot over the base but wonder, is there a way of adjusting the angle or length of this side stand so that it’s more upright?
 
Don't think so. Mines been leaning for 10 and half years and hasn't fallen over yet��
 
Get a hockey puk (yes really a hockey puk - try fleabay) and longer bolts for the camel toe, drill through the puk using the camel toe holes as a guide and fit the puk to the bottom of the camel toe. Raises the lean by an inch. Did it on my 1200 GS and it made a massive difference.

Ask the owner to put it on side stand.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I doubt it will fall over, but sometimes, when already on a slight slope, it’s very hard to push it upright when sitting on the bike, especially if laden.

I like the puk idea but....
My camel toe has the bolts welded in place so am unable to lengthen them to accommodate a puk. I didn’t quite follow the photo in the other link of the string attached puk to be used when needed. Does that mean you have to slide this puk under the side stand base whenever it leans too far?
What is the other end of the string attached to?

I would like to have something to slide in place where the stop for the side stand, when down, meets the bike frame ( if you see what I mean)

Hi Jay
You don’t need the camel toe. I drilled 3 holes in the existing side stand bottom plate and attached the ice hockey puck.done

Or post a picture of your existing camel toe stand, let’s have a look, screws need only to be rather short..

I think you have a point, there is some lateral play, but I haven't taken it off to examine exactly what is worn.
I would like to put something over the stop flange so that it didnt lean so much but this would probably require welding.

Any chance that your bike started out life as factory lowered and then got changed to standard height without changing to the longer sidestand?

650GS with 700GS low rear shock & side stand..

Sadly just changing the sidestands is not just the stands as the low stand also uses a different mount & sidestand switch is located differently..

You can see the sidestands differ.

Don't park with the stand down hill, park square, facing up hill, or face the other way so the excessive lean of the side stand is cancelled out by the camber of the road.

It doesn't look like the bolts are welded in to the pad, get longer bolts, probably countersunk allen heads, you could experiment with different thickness spacers.








Has this thick spacer missed the point?

Just watch where you park up.

I have the camel toe too but some places I just have to position it where there isn't too much lean.

Ash good morning, interested in you shot of the 700gs low chassis as it seems to have a main stand. There isnt one on my 65 plate 700gs which makes lubing chain a pain. Did you fit it or was it on when you bought it?

One does this when possible buts its not always so easy.

Spacers would only increase the lean by putting the side stand further out from the bike.

It must of either come with one or was specked on order / build Steve..
The lady I bought it from definitely did don't fit it...
I did fit one to my last 650GS though... ( £200 now for one.)
