Transcontinental Race 2018
Some of you may be aware that I will take part in the above bicycle race this year. It will begin in Belgium on 29[SUP]th[/SUP] July and finish 4,100 km later in Greece. The adventure will take me across the Alps several times amounting to more than 40,000 meters of climbing, through 17 countires and will include lots of wilderness in Bosnia, Montenegro and Albania . The race is unsupported, meaning no following car or outside help. My aim is to complete the journey inside 14 days. The route is determined by each athlete but must pass through the 4 checkpoints to reach the finish at Meteora ( http://www.greece-is.com/meteora-monasteries-on-the-edge )
If you wish to follow my journey, my rider number is 29, I will have a GPS tracker which reports position, speed and time every few minutes. You can view this on http://trackleaders.com (this will go live on 29[SUP]th[/SUP] July). For more information on the race https://www.transcontinental.cc
I will mostly post photographs and updates during the ride via twitter please find me as Gary Cunnington and tweet @whele1
Here is my proposed route if you want to come and join me for a few km’s
