Hey everyone so it finally happened :D Back on a BMW Chose an F800GS this time around seems to be the perfect compromise for me bike wise :) everything I loved about the 1200 without all the stuff that drove me banannas an as a huge + can actually put my feet down. To be honest though after just pulling out of Jeffries on it instantly I knew I'd found the right match bike wise.

Steve from Alan Jeffries sorted me out with an absolute cracker.

After doing 2,000 miles on the RD250LC over the past month, the F800GS feels like pure silk and smoothness when the vibes kick in they are nice which is good.

Sure does hustle along was kitting the same braking points as I do on my 250lc which is asking a bit for any bike.

Not really experiencing any of the sloshing on the fuel tank brimmed it before we went up the peak district. Forks feel well damped and controlled. (don't forget my current bikes been a rd250lc) Do I miss the Dynamic ESA from my 1200 LC GSA not one bit very happy with predicable handling.

Gearbox feels slick and smooth.

Only things I wanna sort an they are small things is a longer gearshift lever for my Alpinestars, Bigger screen with bar for a 4 button Nav mount for my Nav 5.

Been thinking about a ADV 800 Screen setup currently to get some cleaner air joys of being tall haha.

Really liking the Vario setup to.
so just wanna say thanks to everyone for all the advice.

As a few of you know I've been in print for a few years well pretty much since I was a kid an due to redundancy with the company shutting I'm outta a job really life changing and not sure what I'd like to do next so gonna have some adventures on the 800.

Cornwall in a few weeks
Northcoast 500 after that and eventually Iceland.

Even been considering splitting my week with part time work and the rest adventure riding if some perm work doesn't come up soon really is a life changing moment :)

For the next week though gonna try film some footage of some back road areas in the peak district.

Few rubbish mobile pictures from today :) was totally worn out by the time we pulled up for a drink

Got mine in March, love it. I got the Trophy and it does everything I want, or probably what I'm capable of. Just kitted it out with 41 ltr aluminium panniers and a Givi 47ltr top box. Got loads of storage now.
Booked to go to France next June, but gonna try a couple of weekenders in Wales / Cornwall, and maybe a week in Scotland as a test run.
Only thing I find is, it's nearly as wide as a car with them boxes on!

Awesome mate!! yeah they are really good arn't they

Got a question for all the lads over 6'2 what screen do you use with Sat Nav mount?

Was thinking of one of the Adv mount seen a few pictures of that done, but not quite sure yet wanna try get it sorted this week though as I've got a bit of neck ache haha

Anyone fitted the Puig one from the ADV? onto a normal 800GS?

Many Thanks,

Tom

I've got an F800GS and gone from full time to part time so I can have more 'me' time. I've not done the miles on my bike that I'd like to have, mostly due to kids etc.. but I'm planning to go back to Eastern Europe when time allows.

One thing I would do if I was you is fit a louder horn. A simple modification but one of the best (and cheapest). Fiamm mini blaster 115db. Available from Nippy Normans

Anyone who can do 2000 miles in a month on a LC250 deserves applause. The two stroke costs must have been 20% of the fuel cost!

Steve

Thanks guys! 3 bottles of 1.5 l two stroke Steve haha 1500 was in one week :)

That's the LC on the same road I was hitting the same braking markers an cornering on the f800gs did some footage but the screen was pushing all the dirty air onto my go pro on my chest stood up was bang on was lookin at the adv puig and maybe the adv brace for mounting the Nav anyone tall using that screen?

Hi Tom,
I have an 800GS and being 6’ 4” wanted a much higher screen. To give more screen options I purchased the screen support bar for the Adventure version with a few screws and clips and after some very minor dremel work around a couple of lower/rear mounts for the beak mudguard it bolted straight on. This enabled me to fit the Puig screen as the basis for what I have ended up with, namely the Puig lower part with the screen from my Yamaha FJR1300 (curved and wide) which is about as good as I’ve been able to get so far.

ah cool! Thanks Baron its good to know the bar from the adv will fit have seen it on advrider but it didn't mention what needed to be altered fairly handy with a Dremel :)

Thanks Deano exactly what I was after looks like that might be just the ticket :)

done a bit of a tongue in cheek riding video for the f800gs gonna have an initial thoughts review vid posted tomorrow as well :)

Hi Deano what width bar did you order mate? are you using the bmw nav 4 mount?

There is only one size for the mount. I just added a Tomtom mount to attach my rider

Thanks Deano :)

Hey everyone here's my initial thoughts on my f800gs filmed the other day :) on my way home from collecting it hope you enjoy some riding footage up to in another clip
