Just bought a low mileage (5500miles) XChallenge which had been used almost exclusively as an off road bike

Removed the swinging arm to find this :

The front and rear wheel bearings , as well as the sprocket carrier bearing were all rough and notchy as well

The moral is do not pressure wash your bike - especially around the swinging arm pivot bearing and wheel bearings

The bike is on the lift getting some well needed attention but should be back on the road (hopefully by the weekend)

My son is going to run it as his daily commuter then we will strip , refurbish and rebuild it next year...

I've had a few like that.

Have fun getting the pivot bolt out? :D

New bearings delivered and all fitted and bike all sorted mechanically now - will sort the cosmetics out over the winter

Bike is all back together and on the road - all sorted mechanically and a mix of panels until I sort a decent set out

It will be well tested next week on a 2000 mile tour through Belgium , Netherlands , Germany , Denmark and Finland
