'03 R1150GS Twin Spark Coil Sticks

Stupid question time.
Recently purchased a low mileage 1150GS, 2003 with the twn spark engine.
Really pleased with the bike aside from some hesitation when accellerating and i'm finding it difficult to ride smoothly at low speed in towns.
I have had a few 1200's from 2004 to 2014 so i'm not expecting it to be turbine smooth but this feels odd and i'm suspecting a dodgy coil stick. I can oly see coil sticks listed on line for the upper plug and not the lower ones, am I missing something?
Any help, suggestions even abuse is welcome

Original coil under the tank does 1 set of plugs, and the coil sticks do the other set.

to test the coil sticks pull off the lower secondary (traditional old fashioned) spark plug caps and see if the bike runs on just the main stick coils.
If it doesn't start and run it's both coil sticks, if i just runs on one side it'll be failed on the non running side... re-attach lower plug cap on the non firing side to confirm.

seems BMW have separate systems then for upper and lower plugs.
That makes sense, will give that a go.
